Support provided to International Organisations
The mission of the IES is to provide scientific and technical support to EU policies. Therefore, while support to other international organisations beyond the European Community institutions is not a primary task, the IES carries out a number of activities that are of direct benefit to international organisations. This is especially the case when the European Commission is Party to an international treaty – e.g. the Kyoto Protocol on Climate Protection – or when a problem affecting Europe can only be solved on a global scale. This work is carried out by the IES in cooperation with partners from all over the world.
