JRC to set up the new EU's bioeconomy observatory
On 14 February 2013, Commissioner Geoghegan-Quinn launched the bioeconomy observatory, which will be set up by the JRC on behalf of RTD.
The bioeconomy observatory will provide data on bioeconomy market evolution, policies, research and innovation, and investments in support of the European Commission's Bioeconomy Strategy, which was launched in 2012.
The bioeconomy observatory will launch a public webportal in 2014. The JRC will build on its scientific expertise in the area, including its activities in life cycle assessment such as the International Reference Life Cycle Data System (ILCD) Handbook, which was developed and launched by the IES.
