Robert Tomas

Robert Tomas

Robert, from the Czech Geological Survey, Prague in the Czech Republic, is involved in data specification development and promotion of the INSPIRE Directive.

He has graduated with an MSc in Geology & Geochemistry, and has a Ph.D in Informatics – Geoinformatics, Cartography, Remote sensing.

Robert is Director for Informatics on the Czech Geological Survey and is currently seconded to the SDI Unit as a National Expert for Geological Informatics.

Here in the SDI Unit, Robert is working on various INSPIRE and Geology-related initiatives. He is currently involved in INSPIRE Data specifications work, particularly for Annex 1, and will be further involved in Data Themes 2 and 3.

In addition to this Robert is involved in EuroGeoSurveys (INSPIRE & Geoinformatics) and OneGeology – a Global initiative of Geological Survey organizations to make geological map data available on-line.

For the European scale project, OneGeology Europe (a European Commission eContent Plus project), Robert is leading on the development of a multilingual metadata catalogue of national geological and applied geological map data, at all scales.
