Frank Ostermann

Frank is from Hamburg, Germany

Frank studied Geography at the University of Hamburg, and since 2009 holds a PhD in Geographic Information Science from the University of Zurich.

He has done research on urban renewal strategies and public transportation planning, modeling and analyzing the spatial component of individual human activities, visualization of spatio-temporal data, and retrieval and evaluation of volunteered geographic information.

Common focus of all research projects was the application of information and communication technology to questions of human perception and use of space and spatial information.

Currently, Frank is working at the JRC on an exploratory research project together Laura Spinsanti. They are investigating the integration user-generated geographic information within existing spatial data infrastructures in the context of crisis management.
